- I sew because I find that sewing is cheaper than a shrink! I am an "empty nester" mom, sniff, sniff, very sad! My children live all over the place, China, Australia and California. They learned to spread their wings at a young age and did so with a vengeance, lol! I also have six of the most incredible and beautiful grandchildren on the planet....just another proud Grandma! Been married to my soul-mate for over 38 years, and we still make each other laugh! I am a self taught character-maker and pattern designer and very proud of it, but if anybody has any hints on how to make money at this I would be happy, ecstatic, to listen! I have been fortunate enough to have been published in Country Marketplace magazine (no longer with us, darn) Country Sampler, Country Living and Better Homes and Gardens and recently have been invited to be a member of "Ghoultide Gatherings" which I am still jumping up and down over! I have over 250 patterns which can be found on my website www.softinthehead.com I have been designing characters longer than I care to remember, 28 years, which means I started at the age of 10...ha ha, I wish!
